Sick Of It All Details Of Nonstop

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of New York’s finest hardcore export SICK OF IT ALL! Since 1986 SICK OF IT ALL have been thrashing out classic hardcore anthems and touring the globe without ever taking much of a break. As a special release further celebrating this anniversary, SICK OF IT ALL will release “Nonstop” via Century Media Records on October 31st, 2011 in Europe!

After the release of the highly acclaimed “Based On A True Story” (2010), SICK OF IT ALL took a short break from relentlessly touring this record earlier this year to hit the Antfarm Studio again with Tue Madsen in order to celebrate their 25th anniversary with re-recordings of classic hits for “Nonstop”. Drummer Armand Majidi is giving props to the Danish producer who already worked with them for “Death To Tyrants” and “Based On A True Story”: “This whole thing is partially because of working with Tue Madsen - the man who has finally made SOIA sound the way we should in the studio.”

The band further comments on “Nonstop” as follows:
“It was a fun recording session, and a relatively easy one because we're so used to playing so many of these songs live. They're like second nature. Most of these songs make their way into our live sets all the time, so they're current - they reach new ears and are constantly refreshed by their exposure to a brand new audience. It's not like they had to be dusted off.
We changed tempos mostly and some of the arrangements, but we didn't want to do anything too drastic. We wanted to keep most of the songs true to the originals, but with a more powerful sound that we feel makes them all they can be. “

UNEVEN STRUCTURE Debut Album FEBRUUS

UNEVEN STRUCTURE have announced that they are to release their debut album FEBRUUS on October 31st 2011, via Basick Records. The release is a thirteen piece concept album spanning across two discs, mixing lush soundscapes with fierce polymetric Metal - think, Pink Floyd's creativity meets Meshuggah's brutality with a side serving of Devin Townsend's progressive charm.

A truly exciting prospect for the future of heavy music, UNEVEN STRUCTURE disassemble and reconstruct the Metal genre we all know and love, by creating contemporary atmospheric movements that are all at once dripping with seductive cinematic ambience and groove-laden riffs.

Guitarist Aure Pereira comments on the album: "If we were to give any advice to our fans before they listen to Februus, we would tell them to take their time and really open their minds to the music, because there are a million different listening levels. Recording has taken us so long but we think it was worth the wait in the end. We wanted to be sure that we had put the best of us in it and I think we've been successful at doing that. Thall."

A self-contained unit, the band recorded 'FEBRUUS' at French studio Uneven Box, with guitarist Igor Omodei at the production helm. Vocals and mastering were completed at Vertic Studios in the South of France. The artwork concepts that run throughout the album and forthcoming videos were also conceived and produced by Igor Omodei.

Hummingbird of Death is a critical fastcore band from Boise, Idaho. They have been around the scene for a while and continue to blast out the most pulverizing fastcore you have ever heard. In this recording, they do a radical job with giving some new stop-and-start powerviolence / grind blasts to aid in the totally fast breaks that they include!

Titanarum is also a totally killer band – these folks hail from California. They play(ed) some seriously radical punk hardcore / thrash. This is angry, raw, and fast – with combining some of the punkrock feel in a very unique and brutal way! This is their last recording, sadly!

George Pacheco of the Cape Cod Rock Music Examiner recently conducted an interview with SOULFLY/ex-SEPULTURA guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

On his death metal roots:

«Yeah, I'm still connected to that part of my career. I think there was a lot of great music came out of that, and I still write music based upon that — a lot of my riffs are still based on that era. I still feel a strong connection with stuff like DEATH, POSSESSED, CELTIC FROST and MASSACRE; I'll never let that die, and I know it'll always be a part of me, because writing fast, aggressive music never really went away, you know? That spirit is alive with SOULFLY.»

On SOULFLY's musical progression over the years:

«Each one of my albums brings the certain place of mind I was in, and I'm proud of them all. 'Soulfly' had a lot of jam sessions, while 'Primitive' had a lot of guests, from Tom Araya to Corey Taylor and Sean Lennon. 'Soulfly III' and 'Prophecy' had more thrash things going on, which drove right into 'Dark Ages', 'Conquer' and now [on the new SOULFLY album] 'Omen'. I have very good memories of all of them, and they all represent every era of my life. Sure, we've came back to a more ‘metal' sound here with SOULFLY since 'Dark Ages', but I never backtrack, man. I don't compare the albums. I just look forward and do each album one at a time. I'm never looking back to the last one, or in the future towards the next.»

On whether he has noticed his way of songwriting changing much over the years:

«It's the same, and has been for twenty years or so. Everything goes down to a four track and a drum machine, so most of the stuff which comes to the studio is 90 percent done; I write it at home, and translate it into the band form. We add bridges, solo sections, intros and outros, but the majority of the song is already written at home, which is the most important part, I think.»

On working with former SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader on the production of «Omen» and the current SOULFLY lineup:

«Logan worked with me on the CAVALERA CONSPIRACY project, as well, so it went really well, man. He really got a great sound on the album; he's very talented, and just a great guy.

«The lineup we have now has actually been the most consistent, existing since 2003! I really like these guys. We get along real well, and are good friends. We all live in different parts of the U.S., so we see each other on tour, but stay separate most of the other time, which I think is good, because you're not connected to that person all of the time. I'm glad that this lineup has persevered, but if it changes, I'm still going to continue SOULFLY not matter what, man.»

FOR THE SUFFERING ALBUM REVIEW

Female singers are a rarity in hardcore-related music; they are a
rarity in screamo/post-hardcore/melodic hardcore, and they are a rarity
in metalcore. But rare doesn't mean nonexistent. In This Moment's Maria Brink, for example, really soared when they combined metalcore and screamo elements on their promising debut album, Beautiful Tragedy.
And For the Suffering, a band from eastern New Mexico not far from the
Texas border, have a female lead singer on this ferocious
metalcore-oriented disc. Her name is Kierston Graham,
and most of the time she favors ultra-abrasive screaming vocals that
are every bit as vicious as what male metalcore vocalists have to
offer. Graham
occasionally gets in some clean vocals, and when that happens, she
favors the type of darkly angelic vocal style that is quite common
among female singers in goth metal and goth rock. It's quite a contrast
- harsh, mercilessly abrasive screaming most of the time, and angelic
vocals on occasion. However, this early-2009 release's heaven/hell
contrast would have been much more effective if Graham
had offered more clean vocals and fewer of the screaming vocals — in
other words, more time for «the beauty» and less time for «the beast.»
Some will compare For the Suffering's metalcore to Beautiful Tragedy, which was a lot more metalcore-minded than In This Moment's second album, The Dream (an excellent yet much more mainstream-sounding and pop-minded release). But quite frankly, Beautiful Tragedy
is considerably stronger than For the Suffering's album — which is
wildly uneven and misses the mark most of the time. Nonetheless, there
is some potential here. Graham's
ability to scream so viciously when she wants and sound angelic when
she wants is certainly a talent, and this band is at least worth
keeping an eye on.

SEITA is a Brazilian four-piece band hailing out of Amsterdam that stands for straight up death/thrashmetal.

Inspired by the contradictions, passions and violence of their homeland, and infused with new views provided by a life on the move, Seita delivers a sound best described as pure aggression in its most visceral form.

Early in 2007 drummer Dom Mura (ex-With Pride) and vocalist/guitarist Michel Gambini (Retturn) got together and, ignoring the latest fads in the music scene, started writing material. Within no time they had punched out songs that they felt had the potential to go beyond the walls of their rehearsal room – an energy later boosted by creative guitarist Edson Munhoz (Rooted).

In March 2008 bass-player André Sparta completed the line-up and the band finished the self-recorded Imprint Forever demo; mixed and mastered by Danny O'Really (Deicide,Biohazard,Napalm Death). The six in-your-face tracks are just the starting point for this band.

In 2009 they focus on live shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and South-Korea and work on new material. End of Spring 2010 they hope to release their first full-length album.

Committed to honesty, their feelings and attitude combined with each member's influences and experiences will undoubtedly impel SEITA to expand the boundaries of their own music.
