MASTER The Human Machine First Impression

Deadwebzine News Center — http://www.dwz.narod.ru/ ___+++
The first ever review of MASTER's upcoming Death Metal grime-fest «The Human Machine» came in from the recently resurrected legendary Metal Maniacs magazine, courtesy of Brian Krasman:

Death metal elder statesmen Master haven't exactly pulled punches during their nearly three decades together. Like, did you see the cover of 2007's «Slaves to Society»? Yeah.

But in an era where so much «death metal» is overproduced, sanitized or mixed with something that ends in «core», it's nice to have something as ugly and nasty as Master. It'll put hair on your chest. It'll scare all the kiddies in the Suicide Silence shirts. Hell, it'll damn near leave them kicking and screaming their way back to Hot Topic for some dolled-up, faux-frightening comfort. Master's latest effort «The Human Machine» (out on Pulverised) is more of the veiny, bruising bloodbaths we've come to expect from these fellows, but with a little extra crust to boot!

The mix of classic death metal with good, honest thrashing immediately greets listeners on Master's 10th studio offering and sets it apart from most in its genre. There's not an effort to be pristine or polished, as teeth are ground and skin is pierced right from the get go as the title track sets the crushing tone. «It's What Your Country Can Do for You» lets frontman/bassist Paul Speckmann release his cynicism and frustration, as he insists, «You are a machine working for the government,» which is just one accusation in a furious tirade that makes your average street corner picketer sound like a Kindergartener.

«Suppress Free Thinking» isn't terribly hard to decipher from its title, and its fiery drum attack courtesy of Zdenek Pradlovsky leaves welts; «Worship the Sun» sounds like a companion piece of sorts, at least musically, to Slayer's classic track «Raining Blood»; and «The Lack of Space» even hints at a High on Fire/Motorheads stoner groove.

No angular haircuts, no clean vocals, no tight ladies jeans. Master is death metal's seamy underbelly, a blast of wickedness from the genre's past that isn't terribly pleasing to look at, but whose idea was it to smooth out the appearance anyway? «The Human Machine» is a monster here to restore the idea that the world's most grotesque and horrifying subject matter has a place to unfurl itself and those of us who indulge can do so without worrying if a hair's out of place.

MASTER is:

Paul Speckmann – Vocals, Bass
Alex Nejezchleba – Guitars
Zdenek Pradlovsky — Drums

FATALIST Recording DEATH Cover For After Party Massacre Soundtrack

Deadwebzine News Center — http://www.dwz.narod.ru/ ___+++

Ventura, California death metallers FATALIST a recording a cover version of DEATH's «Beyond The Unholy Grave» for the soundtrack to «After Party Massacre». The band states, «We finished tacking the drums tonight and now it's on to the guitars and bass.
«We tried recording the song using the three different tempos that are on the original recording, but it sounded weird when we did it. So after that didn't work, we decided to go with just the tempo of the intro and it seemed to flow a little better. It might be different than how DEATH played it, but that's why this is a cover. We are using a slightly different way of recording the guitars this time around as well. We will be using the ENTOMBED method of using the HM-2 on the left and right channel, and a DS-1 in the center Channel. [We] used this setup on a demo of a new song and it turned out great.»
FATALIST is seeking a new frontman following the recent departures of guitarist/vocalist Wes Caley (ex-EXHUMED, UPHILL BATTLE) drummer Tyler Castro.
Commented guitarist/vocalist Neil Burkdoll: «We need someone who can handle the vocals from the debut album, 'The Depths of Inhumanity', and be able to add a new spin to the formula as well. The singer needs to be able to practice at least once a week and be able to perform live as well. Transportation and a good attitude are required.»
«Frozen Epitaph», the new video from FATALIST, can be viewed below. The track comes off the band's full-length debut, «The Depths of Inhumanity», which was released in the U.S. on November 23, 2009 via Ibex Moon Records.
Although the influences are obvious, the band injects its own personality into these 11 songs while staying true to the bruising-and-buzzing sounds of early-'90s Stockholm. Hear for yourself why James Hoare of Terrorizer praised FATALIST for playing «Swedish death metal like the masters» and shredding «the old way.»

Deadwebzine

GLOOM was born in 2002 as a group of friends from bands such as VIRULENCE or SURTUR without many pretensions and with the sole purpose of playing music that we love, Death Metal…

After an initial stage where the band made several concerts and recorded a demo, GLOOM broke in late 2005, for over a year, until early 2007, when James Surt (WOLFENCROSS) and Ayuso (UNSOULED), joined three of the original members (Bruto, Maiki and Fer) to get up the band again, this time with a more serious attitude, which resulted in the band's first full-length CD «Mater Tenebrarum».

The CD has been entirely self-produced and has 8 tracks of Death Metal, where the music matters more than speed and technique, because we believe in making songs, not exhibitions… We are currently presenting the CD and looking new sites and dates for play if possible, outside Madrid… we are also writing songs for a new job.

Spain Version
