Regain Records has announced the signing of NECRONAUT

Regain Records has announced the signing of NECRONAUT, the solo project of former DISMEMBER/CARNAGE drummer Fred Estby.

After more than 20 years in the death metal scene, Estby wanted to express his passion for different kinds of extreme music he’s bore since his youth. In 2008, Estby started to write and record material with the intention of having one unique vocalist for each song. Dubbed NECRONAUT, the project would become a reality one year later when Estby began contacting the many talented metal musicians he had in mind to complete the album of his diabolic dreams. In short, NECRONAUT is a raw slab of old-school metal and while the term “old-school” alone goes a long way in accurately describing the sound that one should expect from Estby and co, NECRONAUT is so much more. The band’s approach is crude and dead simple, a la early BATHORY and VENOM mutated with BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN, but with an unorthodox bass-heavy production that allows the album to stand out amongst its peers. The goal was primitive brute force, but because of the manner in which Estby chose to achieve it, he also managed to create an aura of pure malevolence that, prior to this album’s creation, was likely difficult to imagine.

Estby is currently finalizing the self-titled album for a late 2010 release. The cover artwork for the CD was designed by Chat Zar, who was reponsible for creating the prosthetic effects for such movies as “The Ring”, “Planet of the Apes” and “Darkman”.

Commented Estby: “The work of this album has been possessing me for the last 12 months and it is turning out exactly as raw, heavy and dirty as I hoped!”

NECRONAUT guest musicians:

Vocalists:

* Chris Reifert (ABSCESS, AUTOPSY)
* Hellbutcher (NIFELHEIM)
* Tompa Lindberg (DISFEAR, LOCK UP)
* Nicke Andersson (IMPERIAL STATE ELECTRIC)

Solo guitarists:

* Tyrant (NIFELHEIM, DAGGER)
* Uffe Cederlund (DISFEAR, ex-ENTOMBED, PRINCIPALS OF EXISTENCE)
* Robert Pehrsson (DEATH BREATH, DUNDERTÅGET)
* Robert “Strings” Dahlqvist (DUNDERTÅGET)
* David Blomqvist (DISMEMBER, DAGGER)

The song “Infecting Madness”, featuring Chris Reifert on vocals, is available for streaming at http://www.myspace.com/necronaut666

WHITECHAPEL have set “A New Era Of Corruption” as the title of their third album

Knoxville, Tennessee death metallers WHITECHAPEL have set “A New Era Of Corruption” as the title of their third album, due on June 8 via Metal Blade Records. A song from the CD will make its online debut on April 12,

“A New Era Of Corruption” was recorded at Audiohammer studios in Sanford, Florida with acclaimed producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER).

“The album is finally 100% complete and we couldn’t be more excited. I think this record truly represents where we are as musicians at this point in our career,” comments guitarist and founding member Alex Wade.

“‘A New Era of Corruption’ is the heaviest and most aggressive material we have written to date.

“Some of you may notice that the title of the new record, ‘A New Era of Corruption’, is a line from the song ‘Possession’ off our last album, ‘This Is Exile’.

“We wanted to name the CD this to bring a little flavor from ‘This Is Exile’ into the new CD, as well as I think the name represents this new age of extreme metal that we are currently rising in.

“The album is not a concept record like ‘This Is Exile’ was. It just has its own general theme and each song deals with its own topic track by track.”

“A New Era of Corruption” track listing:

01. Devolver
02. Breeding Violence
03. The Darkest Day of Man
04. Reprogrammed to Hate
05. End of Flesh
06. Unnerving
07. A Future Corrupt
08. Prayer of Mockery
09. Murder Sermon
10. Nercomechanical
11. Single File to Dehumanization
12. Animus (digital and vinyl bonus track)

Handling artwork for “A New Era Of Corruption” was Brent Elliot White, who previously worked with JOB FOR A COWBOY and CARNIFEX. “Brent absolutely nailed it,” states Alex. “The dark and ominous vibe he portrayed with his art fits the mood of the CD perfectly.”

“A New Era Of Corruption” features guest vocals from Vincent of THE ACACIA STRAIN on the track “Murder Sermon” and Chino from the DEFTONES on the track “Reprogrammed to Hate”. Alex explains: “Vincent has been a longtime friend of the band and we have always talked about him doing guest vocals on one of our records, so, naturally, his style of vocals fits our music perfectly and sounds great.

“We’re honored to have DEFTONES vocalist Chino Moreno on our record. All of us are huge DEFTONES fans so it’s pretty surreal for us.

“He absolutely killed his part on the album and it’s everything I envisioned it would be. Plus it’s cool that Chino was so opened-minded to do vocals on something so extreme; I think that it sounds fantastic.”

In support of the upcoming release, WHITECHAPEL is hitting the road to play about 30 dates, most of which are with labelmates JOB FOR A COWBOY and CATTLE DECAPITATION, including stops at the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival and the California Metalfest. Then come the summer, WHITECHAPEL will be on the road as a part of the Vans Warped Tour.

“We have some killer tours coming up in support of the new record, the first one being with JOB FOR A COWBOY and the second one being Vans Warped Tour,” states Alex. “The JOB FOR A COWBOY tour will be cool as it will be in smaller rooms with a more intimate setting with the fans. This is something we haven’t done in a very long time so it will be awesome to go back and do some shows like that. Then we will be doing the complete opposite and playing to thousands of people a day on the Vans Warped Tour so we are very excited and honored to be a part of that.”

Last but certainly not least, WHITECHAPEL is set to film its first music video for the track “The Darkest Day of Man” off “A New Era of Corruption”. The band will once again work with metal video director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye.

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, Alex Wade stated about the band’s forthcoming LP, “The new album will have its own concept and will not be based off ‘This Is Exile’. Though there will still be some slight themes from ‘Exile’, they’ll still be present on the new album just to, kind of allow the fans of ‘Exile’ to connect with the new album and stuff like that. But it kind of has a theme of its own. It is not going to be so much a concept album it just kind of will have its own theme. And the art work kind of ties in with it, but it won’t really tell a story. The theme is going to be about the downfall of man and where man is forced to become a machine. And the album artwork will explain all of that in a physical sense.”

Regarding the band’s decision to work with Suecof on the new album, Wade said, “We chose Jason Suecof because in our eyes he definitely puts some of the cleanest, as well as, the heaviest recordings out. A lot of producers can’t really grasp that concept of making something extremely heavy while at the same time making everything really clear and audible, like with the guitars and stuff like that. We’re really excited to be going into the studio with him and for him to be taking our sound and kind of meshing it with his production.”

WHITECHAPEL is:

Phil Bozeman – Vocals
Ben Savage – Guitar/Leads
Alex Wade – Guitar
Zach Householder – Guitar
Gabe Crisp – Bass
Kevin Lane – Drums

KORN - brand new song - Oildale

An audio recording of KORN performing a brand new song, "Oildale", on March 26, 2010 in Anchorage, Alaska can be streamed below.

KORN frontman Jonathan Davis confirmed in an interview with a Boise, Idaho radio station that the band has signed with Roadrunner Records, home of acts like NICKELBACK, SLIPKNOT and ROB ZOMBIE. Davis called the label "a good home" for KORN, adding that the band opted for Roadrunner over a larger major label because "they're one of the last real, respected labels left . . . We looked at all the other options and didn't want to go down that road again."

Following the end of their two-album deal with EMI Music, Davis said the band considered releasing its music on its own before deciding to team with Roadrunner. "We could do it on our own, but it's so complicated with all the business aspects and marketing and all that other stuff that I'm never really into . . . for us we really do need a label to back us and help us and do what they do, and they're really good at that," he said.

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer let the news slip during an online chat with fans last week.

The new KORN album, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", is due out this summer. The CD marks the return of producer Ross Robinson, who worked on the band's first two releases, 1994's "Korn" and 1996's "Life Is Peachy".

Davis explained that the title also represented a fresh start for the group. "We feel like it's the third old-school style record, like after 'Life Is Peachy' would be," he said. "Everybody was just sitting around smiling when we were listening to the songs. And 'Remember Who You Are' — it's just like it's taking us back to remembering what we did back when we were kids. This album is that."

The band begins the Canadian leg of its "Ballroom Blitz" tour on Monday (March 29). The U.S. portion — which is doubling as this year's Jägermeister Music Tour — kicks off on May 2 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

KORN will also headline the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour this summer with ROB ZOMBIE.

PRETTY MAIDS will release their new album, "Pandemonium", on May 14

Danish hard rockers PRETTY MAIDS will release their new album, "Pandemonium", on May 14 in Europe and June 8 in the U.S. via Frontiers Records.

"Pandemonium" track listing:

01. Pandemonium
02. I.N.V.U.
03. Little Drops of Heaven
04. One World One Truth
05. Final Day of Innocence
06. Cielo Drive
07. It Comes at Night
08. Old Enough to Know
09. Beautiful Madness
10. Breathless
11. It Comes at Night (remix)*

* Bonus track available first pressing in digipak

According to a press release, "Pandemonium" "truly shows the band in their finest moment [and] is their best effort in many years." It is said to be "a return to the 'Future World' / 'Red Hot and Heavy' era of the Eighties but with an updated sound and freshness that consolidates that PRETTY MAIDS are as strong as ever."

Written in the fall 2009 and recorded in the winter 2010, "Pandemonium" was produced by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, RAUNCHY) and will be supported by several festival appearances during the summer of 2010 and a full-scale European tour in October/November 2010.

"Pandemonium" introduces keyboard player Morten Sandager as a permanent member of the band.

PRETTY MAIDS is:
Ronnie Atkins - Vocals
Ken Hammer - Guitar
Kenn Jackson - Bass
Allan Tschicaja - Drums
Morten Sandager - Keyboards

PRETTY MAIDS' "comeback" album, entitled "Wake Up To The Real World", was released in November 2006 via Frontiers Records.

OZZY OSBOURNE: New Album Title

According to USA Today, Ozzy Osbourne's new song "Let Me Hear You Scream", from his upcoming album, "Scream", will have its world premiere on an episode of "CSI:NY", to air on CBS on April 14 at 10 p.m., ET/PT. In this episode, a death row inmate's (guest Harold Perrineau) final request brings Dr. Hawkes (series regular Hill Harper) to a Pennsylvania prison and to confront a tragic incident that he has kept secret for many years, just as a prison riot erupts and traps Hawkes inside.

Ozzy's upcoming album, the 10th solo studio effort of his career, was originally called "Soul Sucka", but had its title changed after fans complained. The Prince of Darkness told RollingStone.com, "When we put that on the Internet none of my fan base liked the title. They were like, 'I can't imagine me walking around the fucking house with the words 'Soul Sucka' on my T-shirt.' So I was like, 'Fuck it. I've got to come up with something else!'"

Regarding the musical direction of the new CD, Ozzy told The Pulse of Radio. "It's very heavy. It's a cross between — it's kind of like a SABBATH/Ozzy album, you know. It's kind of, it wasn't meant to, I didn't plan on doing it but that's the way it unfolded. A lot of it's very, very heavy. I just hope people like it. I love it."

The new set is tentatively due out in July.

Ozzy's last solo project, "Black Rain", came out in 2007.

Ozzy also confirmed that Ozzfest will return this summer after taking a one-year break but did not reveal whether it would be a one-shot affair like the 2008 edition or go back to its roots as a traveling event. He also plans to head out on his own headlining arena tour next fall.

The new album and tour will introduce guitarist Gus G. Ozzy parted ways last year with axeman Zakk Wylde, who has played on every Ozzy album and almost every tour since 1988.

Ozzy Osbourne's long-awaited memoir, "I Am Ozzy", debuted at No. 2 on the New York Times' hardcover non-fiction best-seller list. The book was published on January 25 in the U.S., nearly two years after it was first expected to arrive. "I Am Ozzy" chronicles the legendary metal icon's life from his working-class beginnings in Birmingham, England to his initial fame with BLACK SABBATH to his massive solo career and forays into television.

ANNIHILATOR was honored in the "Favorite Metal Artist/Group" category at the 2009 Indie Awards (Independent Music Awards), which was held on March 14, 2009 at the Royal York Hotel (Canadian Room) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Also nominated in the "Metal" category were BISON B.C., CRYPTOPSY, CURSED and FUCK THE FACTS.

The Indies celebrate the best in independent music. Nominees are selected by committees of industry professionals from all areas of the music scene and winners are decided by a combination of public and industry voting.

ANNIHILATOR released its latest album, "Metal", in North America in January 2008 via SPV. The CD's ten new tracks were recorded by Jeff Waters (guitar, bass and lead vocals on one song), drum legend Mike Mangini and Dave Padden (longtime vocalist and touring guitarist/vocalist). The album featured sensational performances by some of metal's finest players and ANNIHILATOR's good friends, like Alexi Laiho (CHILDREN OF BODOM), Danko Jones, Michael Amott and Angela Gossow (ARCH ENEMY), Corey Beaulieu (TRIVIUM), William Adler (LAMB OF GOD), Jeff Loomis, Jesper Strömblad (IN FLAMES), Steve "Lips" Kudlow, Anders Björler (THE HAUNTED), Jacob Lynam (LYNAM) and more.

http://www.razorbackrecords.com

REVOLTING is the new band from Rogga Johansson(Paganizer, Ribspreader) which is dedicated to the HORROR/GORE films from the 1980's! With today's modern horror sucking beyond redemption and death metal being plagued by rap, emo, and fake boring "brutality", Rogga felt it was time to do a truly PURE and ugly, rotting, putrid Death Metal band for the love of it and to get back to the basics of what all of this madness is about anyway!

Teaming up with Razorback Records, the label known for their obsession with oldschool metal and horror, the name REVOLTING was chosen by Billy "Grossera" Nocera to reflect the gross, nasty, gory, and insane horror films from the 80's such as STREET TRASH, THE BLOB, REDNECK ZOMBIES, and other mutant gross-out fests that make life worth living!

The spirit of real Death Metal is alive and well, and REVOLTING is keeping the gory tradition going with the release of their debut album, "DREADFUL PLEASURES"!

Beware...the Revolter has awakened from its decades long slumber beneath the crypt....and it's NOT happy at all with what death metal and horror has become! It's hungry, and ready to begin its grotesque assault on your senses and show the underground what REAL Death Metal is SUPPOSED to be about!

The song "Watch This" from legendary guitarist Slash's (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash"

The song "Watch This" from legendary guitarist Slash's (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash", is available for free download using the widget below. The track features guest appearances by Dave Grohl (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS) and Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER).

In a recent interview with MusicRadar.com, Slash stated about the song, "I wrote the basic parts and I had sort of a loose arrangement, but this was definitely the loosest song of the bunch, and having Dave there, who is such a dynamic drummer — I'd never actually worked with him but I'm very familiar with his drumming — and with Duff there too, they're both very creative so I knew we could throw this together.

"I didn't want it to be epic, I wanted it to be three minutes long, and it came together very quickly with a very spontaneous, live kind of vibe. Actually, I tried to get Dave to sing it, but he wouldn't sing it, so I just said fuck it, we'll put guitars on it. He was adamant about not singing, he was like, I just wanna play drums, and he's a fucking phenomenal drummer."

Three other songs from "Slash" — "Ghost", "Crucify The Dead" and "Crucify The Dead" — can be heard using the audio player below. Three other cuts — "Ghost", "Starlight" and "Beautiful Dangerous" — can be heard at Amazon.com

"By The Sword", the first single from "Slash", will be released as a digital single on March 28. The track was co-written by and features a guest appearance by Andrew Stockdale of the Australian retro-rock combo WOLFMOTHER.

"Slash" will be released in North America on April 6 via EMI Label Services and in the U.K. on May 10 through Roadrunner Records. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians, including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmister, Adam Levine of MAROON 5, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Stockdale.

"Slash" was produced by Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and was completed with the rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.

The track listing is as follows (guest vocalists in parenthesis):
